Here it is with the Bears Ears and the re-emerging Glen Canyon tantalizingly close to the west.
In some ideal world, there’d be a winter basecamp in Silver, near to the places like Ajo where it doesn’t freeze even on an average January night.
And a summer basecamp somewhere out of Monte Vista, Del Norte, or Alamosa itself, for touching the face of 57 Fahrenheit even in early August.

But fuck that wistful shit from some lifetime that isn’t mine.
In this world, I have only one basecamp, halfway in between, in the dusty interstate town with a roof that drips.
And that will have to do.
I can make it work.
As long as there are too many cats around, I’m not going away for more than three or four nights max.
The work I do is going to be about perfecting those shorter trips and the kit required to make them somewhat comfortable.
And documenting what that takes. Creative Monetization.
Eventually I’ll have that ALiner. But it can’t wait, not even for that.
Fix the pickup ignition, bitchboy, and repair that camper shell and put it on the ‘Bed’. Pay out for your 10 lousy MPG.
You have that three thousand dollars worth of trailer that also leaks too. It could be a major factor and especially if you do need a room to medicate a cat in if you know what I mean.
I think I might like to take the truck to Utah even if that’s only to make a dumb point about getting going and to inform myself about what’s missing.
That is a long list.
