Apparently there was a Superbowl yesterday, and apparently the team my heart sang for, when I was twelve, lost.

I am completely and utterly out of that loop and it doesn’t bother me at all.

Probably I’ve said it here before, but politics is the only sport I follow at all. And the playoffs are just starting.

On the way home tonight there was only NPR of course, and I ended up rage-quitting it in favor of the sound of the wind.

I used to work for their stations. I interviewed at the DC mothership because it was what I really wanted to do–it didn’t work out because this was at the very peak of affirmative action, and they told me specifically that I wasn’t getting in because of it.

In those days the decline of NPR had only just begun. It was still a leftist enough place that conservatives were constantly threatening to cut their funding. It was ruled by the spirit of the Scott Carriers, and Joe Franks.

As they became more ‘centrist’, I became more radical.

Somewhere today online I saw someone spell it MSDNC instead of MSNBC. The joke being that Maddowland is just the media arm of the Democratic National Committee, a bunch of well-coiffed millionaires who are for gay rights, but murderously opposed to the working class.

NPR is the same shit now. They had a million reasons why Bernie could never win. Their Respectable Analysis was a shitload of whistling in the dark and knocking on wood over it.

Anyway.

They wouldn’t do it for Castro or Corey or Kamala or Yang, in spite of their varying ‘diversity’, because back then they were still convinced that Biden was going to walk away with the nomination. Now they’re scared enough, like John Kerry, to try to put the fix in for a Republican oligarch with unlimited capital to dump on the masses.
