Inside Tour

Early in the morning we tried to contact the realtor through a circuitous route. Pretty much no hope of seeing the place inside on a Labor Day, right? In the end we were put in touch with the wrong realtor, but somehow he had a key. Whatever, god. Yesterday a heron, and a double rainbow from the top of La Capilla. Now this. Okay.

We stalked the place a good long time and learned. Yes there are issues, some of them potentially big ones. There’s no heat except for a wall unit in the middle. No AC at all. The electrical seems Frankenstein. The water heater is essentially outside.

On the other hand, the one bedroom we couldn’t see in pictures online is indeed big enough for a king bed.

On the other other hand, what difference does any of that make compared to being almost neighborless in the midst of a residential area; compared to fruit-bearing pomegranates, compared to being up on a hill with that view but still only a mile from the Co-op and less than that to the best coffee place on Earth …

Compared to 135K and apparently a pretty squishy 135 too.

There has to be a way.

There is a way, in fact, but a very scary one. That’s the fear I’m facing in this decadent week.

Time to go and consider that, over the best cup, .8 miles down in town. We mull. We point it north with longing in the rearview.
