October in the railroad earth, a little more than five years back, I got methodically serious about writing. Inspired in large part by attending the second Southwest Festival of the Written Word, I decided that I would both scribble and publish something/anything every single day. I set up a WordPress and was true to the Daily Spill mission for a good two years, at which time the apple-cart of my livelihood was upset, and ‘Daily’ became a goal, met often but not always.

Early 2019, I mothballed version one and reopened with fresh intensity at a new dedicated domain … v.2 is running up on 600 posts now, and continues into the foreseeable future.

In May of this unholy year of our lord 2020, Institutional Employment as a member of the professoriate again evaporated away from under me. This time I did see it coming, was better prepared, and actively welcomed the End, especially given the pandemic. It meant a summer off with no normal finite end to it on into the Fall.

Over the standard summer I scunnered to the Desierto Pintado outback and into the only place I’ve ever held a mortgage on; scraps of stingy stimulus keeping it current with enough left still for pots of chili verde in November’s frost.

3 weeks and change until the Solstice. This should probably launch Then.

Below this are boilerplate lines provided by the new platform.

In pedestrian news, I painted the shed foundation, and late late at night there was ice fog.
