S’goin’good.
They said a high of 93 and a ten percent chance of a monsoon recurrence. Around two in the afternoon the first part came true, but there was a weird light filtering in. I went outside to look and got sprinkled on, a big cloud sweeping down from the mountain. Pretty soon it was buckets, and the temp dropped a nice 15 degrees as a bonus.
Three hours later the screened entrances are flung wide.
Oh. And. Speaking of.
A few nights back I got home in the dark and went to open the back bedroom window as a matter of course. On the tinny rollup shade there was this:

Or something a lot like it anyway. Skinny all over, but big enough that the salsa jar I grabbed wouldn’t have trapped it fully even if I’d caught it. Which I didn’t. It skittered up smartly behind the part that holds the shade contraption up. The window is at the head of my bed.
I didn’t feel super worried somehow. I took some precautions, like laying down packaging tape sticky side up on the sill. Today I searched it out and I think (who knows) that it’s called a giant daddy long-legs. Pretty scary looking, but supposed to be harmless.
I don’t think it’s hiding in the same place. If I had to guess, it’s down under the headboard now. I’ve been shaking out the pillows and sheets when I settle, but I think it’s way more afraid of me than I am of it.
I’m hoping my friend keeps the moths in their place.
