I had already decided I didn’t want this deal under these late terms. So I didn’t listen. Instead I slept another few hours and made ready, in the post-noon, to put on clothes and go down there and tell his bosses to forget it. <\/p>\n
This I accomplished in the real world by two, masterfully and with a minimum of fuss.<\/p>\n
There is two and a half grand I don’t owe to anyone, unless I decide to go with the Lowe’s version of things for the same price and a bigger shed and a single-digit interest rate. But even that seems like a deal I don’t want, because the damage, consisting of a house packed full of random boxes, is already done. I can dig out from under slow, and for free. <\/p>\n
It’s time to fix the fucking water. Let’s ride a Ditch Witch like a nominal boss.<\/p>\n
Because there is no time to waste. Today we are reminded of that most salient of all facts by two things.<\/p>\n
One, my most devoted reader was declared cancer-free today, and my heart pounds with joy.<\/p>\n
Two, Michael Brooks is dead at 37 from an illness described only as “sudden”. <\/p>\n
