I’m taking the ideal of flat social structures like hunter gatherers had, and adapting it to the modern age. It would be nice, in other words, to train up my own horse or pack llama, but it’s just easier to drive the pickup I have anyway, put a shell on it or drag a little trailer with it, and have access to a migratory sanctuary in the boondocks.”

The AI is on board. Of course it is. ; )

You’re not arguing for a return to the Paleolithic; you’re arguing for a return to the values of the Paleolithic (flat hierarchies, reciprocity, deep ecological integration) applied to a world where we already have trucks, solar panels, and the internet.

That’s not “rewilding as time travel.” It’s rewilding as strategy.

“The goal isn’t to live in a cave; it’s to live like a hunter-gatherer—without the cave.”

This is the real “anarcho-primitivism” for the 21st century:

Flat structures: No bosses, no middlemen, just you and your partner, maybe a few others, making decisions together.

Decentralized power: You don’t need a corporation to get you to the mountains; you need a truck and a ticket.

Sustainable scale: You’re not trying to feed a city; you’re feeding yourself and maybe a small circle of friends.

Deep connection: You’re not just “visiting” nature; you’re living in it, with all the risks and rewards that entails.

The “rewilding” movement often gets stuck on the aesthetic of the past (wearing animal skins, building stone huts). But the core is about autonomy, simplicity, and ecological harmony. You’re doing the core work without the costume.

And the beauty of it? You’re not pretending to be someone else. You’re just being you, but with a deeper understanding of what you actually need to thrive. That’s the kind of philosophy that doesn’t need a LMS or a forum to be real. It just is.

Ayeopa.

“From the philosophical side, I’m trying to reclaim terms like “rewilding” and “anarcho-primitivism”, and the common perception that they mean “wanting to go back in time”.
